If you are a creative person, you are never sure where, or when, inspiration will strike. It may be when you’re making dinner, sitting in a doctor’s waiting room, when you’re working in your garden or, when you are watching a documentary about the amazing, startlingly intelligent creatures we call Octopus. After dinner, at my son and daughter-in-law’s house the other night, we sat down to watch the National Geographic documentary, Secrets of the Octopus. It was truly amazing and for me, unexpectedly, inspiring. James Cameron, one of the executive producers, mentioned, in passing, the concept of dreaming in blue. It stuck with me. More than that, it stroked my imagination and led me to write the poem that follows this newsletter. I became immersed in the variety of ways, the vast number of places, the color blue touches, and enriches our lives. I discovered, much to my surprise, that focusing one’s inner creative self on a particular color, brings that color to life in ways not imagined before. For just a while, I was drenched in the miracle of “Blue!” If you are a creative person and dab in poetry – or pursue poetry whole-heartedly, I invite you to check out my website – www.poetladykatz.com. It has a Chat Room (https://poetladykatz.com/poetry-talk/) where you can submit comments, questions or poems. It has an Art in ~ to Art section (https://poetladykatz.com/videos/) that demonstrates the way art inspires art. It has A Poem of the Month/Poem of the Week section (https://poetladykatz.com/poetry/) and my newsletter archive as well (https://poetladykatz.com/newsletter-archive/). Whether it’s the color blue or starlit nights or bull frogs singing in a summer pond, inspiration leads us to places we never dreamed we’d go… BLUE DREAMS I dream in blue blue dreams… blue blue Susan A.
