Welcome to my Poet Lady Chat Room. I would like to invite you to click on the chat box and type in a question, a suggestion, submit a poem, in other words – “chat with me.” I may, if you submit a poem, decide to feature it in my Poem of the Week section or, we may simply exchange ideas and suggestions about your poem.

This is a place to “talk” poetry with someone who has loved it all her life. I have a true passion for the possibilities of poetry and would love to hear your thoughts and/or read your poem. I will be happy to offer my reaction to your work and, based on over 40 years of teaching poetry, organizing, and conducting poetry workshops, working as a book review editor for an international poetry magazine, authoring five books of poetry and two textbooks on teaching poetry, send along my thoughts on ways to make your poem stronger and more impactful.

If you’re on my site, you have a connection to poetry. Feel free to connect with me – right here -right now, by typing your message into the “chat box” and clicking send. I’m waiting…

Your friend in poetry, Susan

East meets west (1 reply)

unknown friend travelled all long from east with the sun and sets in the west.

I met a traveler from an antique land of sonets,

lost herself in her own world.

She brought the sunshine from the east for the west to shine more brighter than she thought

And poised herself for me i guess

God send her what all was same in us to show

you won’t know why, and you can’t say how

Such change upon you came,

But – once you shared your life to eachother

You’ll never be quite the same

Few days passed by-

One day suddenly she sat beside me

And i was unknowingly uttering shattering

And was not stopping by,

She kept her eyes on me and slowly gradually she started starring at me...

I asked her what is it all about..

She kept quite for a while and said i am at ease.

That day she went and what thought she got in her mind

She never told to me still

where she already has kick started with it

I was asked to describe myslef in few lines...

But my pages where almost getting filled with ink everyday

And she said me this is just a start not enough for book to go

Take your time i am writing too..

Now you have become my poetry

Dont let me down

We started our journey as amity to make it fest

Let now world judge our benevolence

and see how east met west.

Thank you for sharing your poem with me and for submitting it for consideration for Featured Poem of the Month for July.  I particularly liked your line "Now you have become my poetry..." as it gives us a glimpse into you and to what inspires you to write.  I would suggest that you go back over your poem and see if you can edit a bit on English translation, as you have wonderful ideas/visions that are not stated as clearly, in English, as one would hope,  Please do keep on writing, as I can sense the passion in you for words and poetry, Susan
