KeymasterI would just like to let you know, I've chosen your poem to be my Featured Poem of the Week on my Website. In your two short lines, you have captured so much of the feeling of what writing poetry is all about. Thank you for being part of my poetic journey. – Susan

KeymasterI congratulate you on a very emotional poem that has some wonderful moments in it.
“The pen writes words,
And the paper attends scenes.”“The quill bleeds each day…”
“And read the feelings,
From those metaphoric signs.”If I were to critique your poem, what I would say is – you tell us too much and show us too little. You have a fine sense of imagery and a strong commitment to the emotional message of the poem. As my first mentor used to tell me, choose the very best moments in your poem, the best images – and bring the whole poem up to that level. I would also say that there is much that is said and then re-said – not the job of poetry to repeat itself. Just tell us once, with an image we will never forget – and then move on to the next component of your poem. I think you will discover you have some great poetry waiting inside of you, to be written. Thank you so much for sharing – keep on writing and do share with me again, when you are ready. Your friend in poetry, Susan

KeymasterThank you so much for sharing this very well written and very well thought out, poem. I truly like your images and am touched by them – “the lone tree in the forest – “afraid of making friends” – “mist and frost – rustling leaves” all create a sensory journey that we may take with you, through your poem. Nicely done. Your friend in poetry, Susan

KeymasterI think you have touched on the reason so many of us write poetry, “I need to express what I feel deep inside my lonely heart…” There is so much emotion and honesty in your poem and a real sense of you speaking your truth. I thank you so much for sharing and hope your poetry is always a part of you, always offering you a way to deal with your emotions, as it has been for me, my whole life. You friend in poetry,

KeymasterThis is a very deep and very emotional poem. I’m not sure I’m able to follow your message as well as you would like but, then again, that may be your intention. There are some very well written moments and some fine images and throughout, you maintain a level of razor sharp emotional intensity. I thank you very much for sharing your work with me. KeymasterVery impressive image (shore/tides) that you maintain throughout your poem. Well done. I like the flow of the poem – in keeping with your ocean/tidal theme and, I like your message of why you write poetry. Well done – and thank you for sharing. Your poem, as with all poems submitted, will be considered to be featured on my Instagram page, in the coming days. Your friend in poetry, Susan

KeymasterVery lovely and meaningful poem. I think you have managed to say a great deal in a very few words. That is the goal of the poet. Your ending is particularly powerful in its simplicity and humanity. Your poem, as with all poems that come through my Chat Room, will be considered to be featured on my Instagram page. I thank you so much for sharing your work with me. Your friend in poetry, Susan

KeymasterI find your poem to be very moving, the plea to search beyond yourself in order to find yourself, is a lovely concept. “Let the wind reach up to your soul…” is a nice image – I like that the wind has to “reach up” and I also very much liked “Let the shimmer (of moonlight) bloom in you…” You might want to review your grammar a bit as there are places where a word needs to be added (or deleted) in order for the lines to be grammatically correct. But, overall, a fine effort and I thank you so very much for sharing it with me. Your friend in poetry, Susan

KeymasterI really like this – the concept of words boiling and evaporating into poetry is a very lovely and accessible image. I will definitely be considering your submission to be featured on my Instagram page, one day next week. I appreciate your sharing and am grateful for your interest in poetladykatz. KeymasterVery nice – concise and meaningful. I’m a little confused, however, by your last line – “…when pen divulges the paper.” I’m not sure “divulge” is the right word. “Deluge” meaning to “flood” the paper might be more appropriate. Just a thought. Thank you so very much for sharing your work with me. Your friend in poetry, Susan

KeymasterVery well done and very beautifully stated. I love your image of that “noisy, inquisitive woodpecker/that keeps knocking on my windowpane…” because isn’t that exactly what the need to write is like! A pestering inside your head – a noise – a knocking – a need for the words to find their way onto “that frail blank white paper!” Thank you so much for sharing. I have already sent your piece along to my Instagram Programmer so that it can be featured, one day soon, on my Instagram page. I thank you for your interest in poetladykatz and look forward to reading more of your work in the future. Your friend in poetry, Susan

KeymasterWell done! May I suggest that ending the next to last line with the word “tranquil” does not work for me because “tranquil” by itself is incomplete. You could use an image (tranquil sea – tranquil sky, etc.) or, you could add a word that would complete the thought, such as “tranquil mood.” Your poem is well written and has both a poetic and emotional message that I find very moving. I would definitely consider featuring your poem on my Instagram page once you’ve had a chance to rethink that one line – or not – the poem is yours and must remain yours – my words are just suggestions that you should ignore if they don’t resonate with you. Thank you so much for sharing, Susan

KeymasterThank you for sharing your very emotional poem with me. You have some very good lines and state your passion with energy and intensity. I very much liked the way you expressed how life is treating you “They want to turn me into ashes….
They wanted to buried me alive….” and still you manage to hold on to hope that things will turn around, that the “boat of life” will “return.” This poem is too long for me to feature on my Instagram page but, I do congratulate you on your effort and encourage you to spend a little time on brushing up your English grammar. I think the poem would benefit greatly from that. I would also encourage you to Keep On Writing! Your friend in poetry, Susan -
